“Most, if not all of the car makers have targets for no longer designing or building internal combustion engine vehicles. There are tens of billions of dollars of investment going into EV manufacturing, as well as research around battery technologies and hydrogen.

The European Parliament has legislated for no more sales of internal combustion engines by 2035, but other jurisdictions around the world are also very strong, progressive and proactive on the shift to zero emissions vehicles. It’s a global phenomenon, just happening at different paces in different locations“, explains David Malicki.

In this special podcast episode, we speak with three people with significant experience in the transport sector, coming from the car manufacturing perspective, the policy perspective, and the motorist’s perspective. We interview Scott Nargar, Senior Manager of Future Mobility & Government Relations of Hyundai Motor Company Australia, David Malicki, Team Lead for Net Zero Transport at NSW Department of Planning and Environment, and Nikesh Murali, Senior Policy Advisor at the NRMA.

In this episode, we talk about how transport emissions can be reduced, as transport accounts for nearly 20% of Australia’s emissions, making it the third-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. We discuss how we can shift from fossil fuels to cleaner ways of transporting people and goods, such as electric vehicles and renewable hydrogen.
