What is carbon neutrality?

Carbon neutrality is an interim measure on the way to net zero emissions. Being carbon neutral means that you are purchasing carbon offsets equal to your organisation’s emissions.

Over time, your goal should be to reduce carbon offset purchases and focus on decarbonising your operations and value chain.

What is the Climate Active Standard?

In Australia, the most highly regarded standard to achieve carbon neutrality is the voluntary Climate Active Standard, which is administered by the Commonwealth Government.

If you are looking to be carbon neutral in multiple jurisdictions, such as New Zealand, you can also use the Toitu program, or seek dual certification.

Have you ever wondered what carbon neutral means?

Carbon neutrality can be self-declared, by calculating your carbon footprint, and offsetting it. However, it does not come with the same credibility as getting certified under a Government-backed program. This is where Climate Active comes in.
