Low-Carbon Procurement and Supply Chain Decarbonisation

In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, staying ahead of the curve is essential. This means not only keeping on top of your everyday operational and management challenges but also staying up-to-date with the latest environmental standards, expectations, and market trends.

Are you feeling the heat of the recent ISSB IFRS2 reporting standards, with the demand to scrutinise your supply chain’s scope 3 emissions? Perhaps you’re striving to meet ambitious SBTi emissions reduction targets while grappling with the challenge of where to begin in addressing your scope 3 emissions. Or, maybe you’re being pushed by discerning customers to deliver low carbon products and services.

The good news is that you’re not alone in this journey. Whether you’re navigating emissions reduction targets, supply chain complexities, or the growing demand for low carbon products and services, you can count on 100% Renewables to provide the guidance you need.

We understand the many challenges and opportunities that low carbon procurement presents. Our dedicated team is here to guide you through the complexities, offering tailored solutions that align with your unique goals and objectives. Together, we’ll transform challenges into opportunities and help you build a sustainable, low carbon future for your business.

Why Low Carbon Procurement?

According to the CDP, on average, organisations report supply chain GHG emissions that are 11.4 times greater than their scope 1 and 2 emissions. As a result, organisations are facing mounting pressure from regulators, investors and the general market to extend their climate change mitigation efforts to their scope 3 emissions as exemplified by the latest directive from the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

Developing and rolling out a robust and efficient low carbon procurement strategy is an essential tool to unlock emissions reduction across the supply chain. More than a response to environmental concerns, low carbon procurement is an important strategic pillar for aligning your organisation with a changing world, thereby positioning you for long-term success.

Key benefits of embedding low carbon procurement in your organisation’s processes include:

  1. Meeting expectations and attracting investment: To satisfy stakeholders and attract responsible investors focused on ESG factors, organisations must showcase environmental responsibility, enhancing their reputation and financial prospects.
  2. Competing in a sustainable market: The drive to outperform competitors in emissions reduction motivates organisations to embrace sustainability, setting them apart in a market where eco-consciousness is valued.
  3. Building resilient partnerships: Collaborating with suppliers to address Scope 3 emissions ensures a stable supply chain, guarding against climate disruptions and ensuring business continuity.
  4. Navigating regulatory shifts: Staying ahead of changing emissions regulations (e.g., IFRS S2, SBTi Scope 3 targets, and Climate Active requirements) is essential. Proactive Scope 3 emissions management ensures compliance, preventing penalties and reputation damage.
  5. Leading in climate action: Addressing Scope 3 emissions demonstrates leadership in global climate efforts, contributing to emission reduction goals and showcasing long-term resilience strategies, positioning organisations as leaders in a changing world.
